Ninjago - Nyaby =LEGOtemper

My first digital-only drawing, where I didn't
draw the sketch with pencil and paper. :meow:

It was also my first time trying to use my tablet in different
ways the mouse could not. (like smooth lines with the brush).


I wanted to practice drawing more or less "realistic" details.
(And not outline every single thing that's on someone's face).

Here's my sad excuse of a Nya drawing before:
(just look at that weird face, and odd ear! :XD:)

wow i saw all the other previous comments, and this is really good, doing it from memory without a model and all. I applaud you for that.

The colours, shading and all are just fantastic. The blending has been nicely done. It's easy to tell where the light source is coming from. She looks her age, but I suppose you could make her look slightly younger a bit, like making her face a little more chubby (?).

Though I must say, her nose could use a bit of work, the nose bridge needs to be brought out more. And the border around her face just makes her chin look quite awkward. And I think that it would be a bit nicer if you added more slightly hair at her left.

You also could draw her neck so that she looked more dominant, bringing out the character in her more.

Hats off to you, for drawing this really well without reference or a model, but reference does help a lot and it would be good if used, unless you have no internet and are really desperate. xD

I hope this helped! Keep up the good work, can't wait to see more from you! :>

Wow, you've improved a lot! :omg:
I must say, she looks much friendlier in this
drawing than in the other. You definitely
captured her kind-hearted personality in
this picture. :meow:

I do have a suggestion though.
Her nose seems a bit flat, like
between her eyes.
I recommend making it a bit
more curved. :meow:

Do you plan on drawing another character completely digitally? Like Cole?

I think it's interesting how you've been drawing the line art
traditionally, then coloring it digitally! :D
Although I kind of like drawing digitally...


But anyway, great work overall, can't wait to see what else you'll draw, and
I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE ALL THE CONTEST ENTRIES! :la:

Great colors, shading, and highlights. You did a great job capturing her personality in this pic. Her subtle smirk gives her a feisty, independent look.

My one criticism is that her face is very pointy, which makes her appear older than she is. I always imagine her as 16-19, whereas here she looks like she could be in her mid-20s. Could be you have a different interpretation of her, though.

Oh, I've always thought of the ninja and Nya to be in their early 20's (23 at the most). I guess it's just that their voice actors speak more maturely (rather than saying "like" all the time). Plus, Kai and Nya started the series running a business (unless it's because Ninjago doesn't have a high school). :hmm:

Anyways, thanks for the insight on that! I'll try to keep it in mind the next time I draw a younger person/teen, like Lloyd (who I see as being the one who's 16-19. He's older, but not quite the age of the others yet)...

This face was supposed to be of Kai's. But
I felt like making someone pretty instead. :)

Oh, I meant that this was my first time doing
the sketching on the computer as well (I'm not
used to the tablet's drawing method). ^^;



No one! It was based off of memory~ :D
(which is probably why there's some mistakes)...
